Local business insurance company, constructaquote.com has donated £1,000 from its Community Fund scheme to the children of a local nursery whose outside facilities were damaged during recent storm weather.
The staff and children at Busy Bees Day Nursery, based at Tiryberth Primary school in Hengoed, returned from the Christmas break to discover that their shed along with its contents suffered from storm damage following the recent period of severe weather.
The irreparable damage provided a huge setback for the popular Nursery and the children have been left unable to use any of the toys and equipment.
As a private nursery with limited funds, they put out a request on Facebook seeking assistance which was brought to the attention of the local business by one of their employees.
Bradley Watson, Commerical Development Manager at constructaquote.com said:
“We saw the storm damaged shed first-hand. Water had leaked in via the roof and the window areas had been blown in following the rain and wind. It was clear how upset both the children and Nursery staff were. The shed isn’t fit for purpose and a lot of their equipment including toys and other equipment were also damaged.”
In order for the Nursery to resume to normality they needed to replace the shed to a more sturdier and weather proof standard. This is where constructaquote.com stepped in; donating £1,000 towards a new shed, toys and equipment for the children.
Lyndon Wood, constructaquote.com CEO and founder noted:
“We’re absolutely delighted to be able to help replace the Nursery’s toys and outside facilities. This is why the Community Fund was created; lending a hand to the people who need it most. It’s not just about the money, it’s what you give back that truly matters in life.”
He continued: “The recent flood and storm damage has been awful and we’re happy this money will go towards making a real difference to the children at Busy Bees. We’re even helping to construct the shed by volunteering some of our employee’s to put it all together”
Wood, who pledged to give £12,000 annually to local causes, has already donated to the residents at Pleasant Place sheltered housing complex to enjoy a day out at the seaside, new vaulting equipment for Bedwas Gymnastics Club and the Caerphilly town Christmas tree.
The constructaquote.com employees will spend time the week commencing Monday 29th February building the shed.
