CEO and founder of constructaquote.com, Lyndon Wood, along with company mascot, Billie the Beaver, will be present at the official switch-on of the 2015 Caerphilly Christmas lights next Friday (20th November) after initial worry that the town wouldn’t be able to enjoy the festive tradition this year.
Back in August, it was reported in the local news that Caerphilly may not be able to feature any Christmas Lights this winter, due to the town council’s budget cutbacks. After hearing the disappointing news, local entrepreneur Lyndon Wood decided to donate funds so the town can still enjoy the festive lights as usual this year.
The official “Switch-On” will take place on Friday 20th November at the Twyn Community Centre, located near Caerphilly castle and next to the Tommy Cooper statue. During the celebration, Lyndon will be introduced by the Town Mayor, before giving a speech at 5:45pm. Children from local school choirs will perform afterwards, at 6:00pm.
Lyndon will also be accompanied by the constructaquote.com mascot, Billie the Beaver, with children in attendance each receiving a selection box, also made possible with the help of the money donated by constructaquote.com.
Speaking about the Christmas lights, Lyndon made the following comments:
“Growing up in the area, Christmas was always a huge celebration and the lights being switched on in the town was always something I looked forward to. When I heard that the Christmas lights might be in jeopardy this year, I wanted to help out and keep the Caerphilly Christmas lights on. I’m looking forward to the switch-on and I am hoping for a great turn-out to welcome Christmas 2015 to Caerphilly!”.
